Wireless Magnetoelectric Dressing for Time-Sequence Modulated Wound Repair

(2) Title:
Magnetoelectric dressing for accelerated wound healing
(3) Research rationale:
In this work, a wireless and controllable magnetoelectric dressing system is designed. To address the difficulty of conventional wound interventions in precisely regulating target cells in a time-sequential manner and the limitations of existing electrical stimulation strategies, programmable switchable electrical stimulation modes are established based on the magnetoelectric effect. Differential current stimulation is applied according to the distinct cellular responses at different healing stages to investigate its regulatory effect on wound repair.
(4) Material development
① Materials: The dressing adopts a three-layer structure, consisting of a poly(vinyl alcohol) hydrogel protective layer, a liquid-metal-printed induction coil layer, and a black phosphorus-doped gelatin methacryloyl hydrogel conductive layer. It is paired with a wearable control unit integrated with transmitting coils and Bluetooth modules.
② Functions: It wirelessly generates electrical signals under an alternating magnetic field. The conductive layer transmits electrical signals and creates a favorable wound microenvironment. It can output currents of different intensities at separate stages to modulate macrophage phenotypes and fibroblast behaviors, with favorable biocompatibility and biosafety.
