Wireless hydrogel patch for periodontitis sensing and therapy

 (1) Journal source:

 National Science Review (NSR)

 (2) Title:

Wireless passive hydrogel bioelectronic patch for wireless detection of periodontitis inflammatory signals and local miRNA immunotherapy

 (3) Research idea:

This work designs a wireless passive hydrogel bioelectronic patch. To address the limitation that conventional periodontitis evaluation cannot provide molecular-level inflammatory information and routine administration fails to sustain effective drug concentration at lesion sites, it integrates flexible radiofrequency devices and inflammation-responsive hydrogel to convert local periodontal biomarker information into wirelessly readable radiofrequency signals, enabling concomitant local intervention.

 (4) Material development:

① Materials: Miniaturized flexible radiofrequency devices fabricated by aerosol jet printing, MMP‑9-responsive hydrogel;

② Functions: Recognize periodontal biomarker MMP‑9. Enzymatic cleavage triggers hydrogel degradation and shifts the resonant frequency of the device for dynamic inflammatory sensing, while loaded miRNA mediates local immune regulation.

We provide full-process services for custom material design, including innovative scheme design, fabrication, characterization, and in vitro & in vivo validation (cell and animal studies).
